Just wanted to take a second to share some of the latest accessories available from QUiD for Spring. We were feeling a bit colorful, if you hadn’t noticed! If you see something you’re little heart can’t live without, just let me know!
I’ve also been a busy girl working on some very lovely custom Bridal pieces. If you need a special hairpiece to wear for a spring or summer event, let’s chat!
Whew. What a week. The boy and I left a week ago Saturday and flew to Burbank, CA (yay!). After a fabulous few days with friends we tracked down a rental car and headed off to Tehachapi (it’s okay, I didn’t know where it was either!) to help my mother-in-law sort through a bunch of storage. After a lot of dust, about 200 boxes and some good fun, we loaded up a truck, trailer and SUV and started the trek back to Oklahoma. Thus my extended absence.
We had such a good time traveling through California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The boy even agreed to make a detour to the Grand Canyon! I’ll have a ton of pictures to show you later on but I wanted to share with you my latest obsession – a.k.a. the succulent.
By absolutely no means do I have a green thumb. I scorched an herb garden when I was 7 and that’s about the extent of my gardening skills (although I did grow a pretty mean bean sprout in kindergarten and some tasty baby carrots in junior high). I love flowers but never think to grow them. Particularly since I’ve lived in an apartment for over 10 years!
While traveling through the desert I became somewhat captivated by all things cactus, however. And to top it off, there is so much Native pottery that it looks just stunning in. I wanted a cactus (I later realized I actually wanted a succulent, but you get my point). And then to my dismay, there wasn’t one to be found! We stopped at every trading post and souvenir shop along Route 66 seeking out the perfect little guy to no avail! I finally found one at The Big Texan in Amarillo, TX but just hated its “made in china” pot.
So here I am, sitting at home cacti-free and wishing I had one of these.
Well now. Wedding season is off and in full swing! This week I’ve had the pleasure of dressing some lovely girls in these oh-so-feminine dollops!
If you’d like one of these for your very own, check them out in the shop!
And watch out…today I’m working on a lovely hair piece for the blushing bride!
Located in a small studio in Dallas, TX, Pamela Michelle creates and designs original artwork in wood, on canvas and on paper that you can wear, hang, love and enjoy. Pamela and I have both been vendors in a few shows around the Midwest and let me tell you, she’s a sweetheart. Along with her main man, Dylan (a.k.a. Dowdy Studio), these two make a fabulous team!
I own this little Foxy Fox!

Show prep is underway for my first market of the season! I thought you might like to see the little critters I made today.
On a side note, the boy and I went to a massive car show this weekend and this is what we saw. Yes, there were cars; but who could pass up a giant ice cream cone? Can someone buy me one? Pretty please, with sprinkles?
Well. Somehow I managed to snag a treasury last night in the middle of weaving in ends and sewing on veiling. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, Treasuries are member-curated galleries that etsy sellers fight over. To top it off, my little curation was featured on Etsy’s front page today!
In other news, I have so many posts swirling around in my brain, but show prep for Dustbowl is ruling my life right now! Stay tuned, though. I have a post about Polka Dots in store for tomorrow and perhaps some pics of the new creations?
Sometimes, all you need is a pop of color to brighten your day. So I was happy to see so many bright colors on the runway for spring. Sure, some are terrified to don shades of hot pink or chartreuse. I, in fact, went through a short-lived “serious” phase where the only colors I wore were shades of black and gray. Then I remembered my love for all things colorful! Here are a few lovelies that might have you stepping out into a world of color – and some tips to keep you looking fabulous while doing it.

Take a Clue from Mother Nature
She always pairs brights with a neutral. Bold colors look sophisticated when paired with black, brown, cream and olive.
Stick to a Classic Silhouette
A simple tailored frock and black heels is the easiest way to pull of bright hues.
Still unsure about a wardrobe filled with lime green or electric blue? Grab a colorful accessory to compliment your basics. It’s a clever and affordable way to make your closet dollars stretch while adding some much needed cheer to your day!
Here are a few new items making their way into the shop! Don’t flowers just make you dream of spring?
When choosing our next featured artist, I was strangely attracted to Belli Uccelli’s fabulous illustrations. Why strangely? Well, you see, I am fiercely afraid of the feathered species and the darling Emelia draws – you guessed it – BIRDS! So cudos to today’s featured artist for helping me conquer my fears (on paper, at least)!
I’m Emelia and I have been completely enthralled with birds and nature for as long as I can remember. I put a lot of thought and love into each bird that I create, drawing each one by hand and giving them their own personality and character. I get extremely excited when I see a bird fly by (everyone makes fun of me!) and a million ideas for new illustrations flash through my head, leading to a drawer full of bird doodles! I was inspired by my Baba (grandmother), who was a book illustrator and water color painter to pursue my passion and after working as a glass blower for ten years I finally did! Other than illustrating and enjoying nature I am an avid photographer, old cemetery enthusiast, treasure hunter, maker of lists and lover of chocolate!
