“A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.” ~William A. Ward
The funny thing about blogging is that I run across all sorts of things that I love. Some things I think would be perfect for someone else. Then there are those things I would personally take into my home and love dearly. Here are a few of those things!

Well. I finally learned how to knit. Mind you, I said knit, not purl (for those of you who know what that means). I didn’t realize there was a whole new language I would have to learn. And why, oh why, are those tutorials so maddening? I am, however, proudly wearing my first knit piece…a cowl. And I’m addicted. Something about pretty balls of yarn and using your fingers to transform them….pure genius. Anyone have a good yarn supplier? I think I’m going to need it!
Here’s #2 in my series of gift guides. What says “Merry Christmas” better than classy black and white?
1. Salt Shakers, Bailey Doesn’t Bark; 2. Camera Necklace, Timothy Adam Designs; 3. Framed Art, BLacKGas; 4. Baroque Alarm Clock, Urban Outfitters; 5. Typewriter Necklace, Tilly Bloom; 6. Silhouette Plate, Lisa Golightly
I’m a HUGE fan of color. So when I came across this etsy seller, I just had to share her with you all! Please enjoy!
Describe your most memorable weekend (recent or just a fun one you remember).
My most memorable weekend must be the one when my comic book presentation took place. There were my boyfriend, friends, teachers from my art school…I autographed a few books. I was wearing a black shirt and red polka dot skirt. It was a lot of fun!
What is your favorite thing about the weekends?
I’m able to relax a little bit, take my dog for a long walk. And it’s when I can do creative work.
What do you do creatively over the weekend?
I can put my hands on my beads, wire, fabric and thimbles. I also grab my pencils and paint brushes and create some illustrations.
What is your favorite thing to wear on weekends?
If I’m in the house I like to wear comfortable clothing, pants and t-shirt. When I go out it’s time to wear patterned skirts and dresses, put on a little bit of make-up.
What do you like to eat on weekends?
One of the things I like to eat is seafood. I spend a bit of time cooking, trying new dishes. I also love to do desserts. Whatever is Portuguese, Italian or Japanese food, it’s when I can have a relaxed meal.
What’s the best place you’ve ever visited on the weekend?
It’s hard to choose only one place.
The first thing that springs to my mind is visiting Évora, a Portuguese southern city, during the winter. Me and my boyfriend visited some odd place called “Capela dos Ossos”, which means “Bones Chapel”. One part of the chapel is entirely covered with bones and lots of skulls. It is supposed to be a reminder of our own ephemerity. And of course, we ate good food, great cheese and wine. It was a great weekend!
I thought it would be great fun to get to know a few of my fashion favorites in a more personal manner. The idea is to have a few of my favorite etsy sellers fill us in on “what they did over the weekend”. Fun, eh?
Just so you can learn a bit more about me…I’ll start.
This weekend, the hubby and I made a much needed trip to Ikea in Dallas for storage supplies. My crafting has officially taken over the apartment and I’m going bonkers! So off we went (in our “vintage” jeep), bouncing our way to the blue and yellow swedish monster.
Five hours later, there we were driving down the road with my newly appointed shelving system riding as the third passenger in the front seat. It’s official: Ikea has finally managed to separate me and my husband! lol! We had to spend the rest of the weekend literally yelling at one another through a particle board obstruction!
The hightlight of the weekend was when I found a great deal on a fabulous hotel. It’s called NYLO and has this great Urban Loft feel – complete with a fancy bed and concrete floors!
Oh…and I made a killer necklace to wear! When in the city, right?
